Microsoft banned from selling Microsoft Word in the US?

Well, apparently the US Patent whores are in full swing again, because now I'm running illegal software on my PCs from Microsoft (not those machines I have running OpenOffice) . Read the articles and see for yourself.

Who here agrees with me that the Copyrights and Patents in the world need to be nuked and the system re-designed? It seems to be about the money now a days (which is why everything I put up online is free to use. I don't care what you do with my content that I upload. Just don't copyright it as your own!).

    Bad, BAD idea.

So they're saying I paid $250 for software that is now illegal? I may as well resurrect my pirated copies.

The software itself is not illegal, just the XML reading parts are.
    Thanks,

A Texan court has ruled that Microsoft must stop selling Word in the United States, after finding the software giant guilty of copyright infringement Photo:
The ban was imposed after a Texan court ruled that Microsoft had breached patents owned by a software company, i4i Ltd, pertaining to the way Word handles XML, a type of programming language.

I'm happy to be in Canada, then, my software won't turn illegal after that ruling!

Although i4i is a Toronto firm.

Gee, Microsoft 'borrowed' some ideas from another company. I'm shocked!

800 lb gorilla caught stealing bananas from chimps again.
    Nothing is always absolutely so.

I'm happy that I run Linux. Then I know my software isn't going to get me a fine out of the blue just by owning it.
