Adobe Soundbooth CS4 Crashing

Is anyone in here intelligent enough to interpret crash logs?

Every time I open Adobe Soundbooth CS4 and use it for a while, it crashes. I tried looking through the report to try to find out what was wrong with it but couldn't figure anything out. Hopefully someone else around here can analyze it better than I can.

The crash log I got is attached.

I'll give a hefty credit award if someone can tell me exactly what the problem is, and how to fix it.

The log is in an XML format, built to be read by Adobe technical support. If we were to try to read it, we would first have to interpret it, acquire a good knowledge of adobe components, and then read it. Nearly impossible adam.

I am sure that at Adobe, they paid a team of about 25 developers to come up with the error reporting component and error log software to tech support. I am also sure they were paid to make it look like sumerian to even the most geek users.

Anyways, some basic troubleshooting: have you trying rebooting computer and disabling any addons (if there are some)... Afterwards, there is one option: reinstall!

Of course I tried all that, I'm not stupid -_-

Anyway, I'm not going to reinstall the entire CS4 Master Suite. It took like an hour to install, and I had to do it again after the first time because my laptop automatically shut down from overheating half way through the first trial.

Of course I have a valid license, who would ever try to use Adobe products illegally?

Anyway, yes, I'm sure that my laptop has the minimum requirements to handle the software. I'm gussing my best bet now is to ask Adobe for help, or to post in their support forums.

There is your error. It looks almost as if a plug-in has gone FUBAR or if SoundBooth is being denied access, or writing to a place it shouldn't be. Send the error report to Adobe, as these kinds of errors if a re-install and some system regular maintenance doesn't fix it will need to be read by the person who created the program as they will have the proper debugging tools as well as the program source.

@diabolo: His laptop has plenty of resources for SoundBooth. I can see his specs in that crash log. Heck unless you're working with TONS of audio or RAW files you won't need to run SoundBooth with any higher than 1GB of RAM.

For the meantime Adam, if Audacity suits you, you can use that to work on your sound files. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. As for your laptop overheating, I know that the designs of today's laptops are terrible for the kind of hardware they put in them when it comes down to cooling (I've overheated several with OCCT in air conditioned rooms at a typical air conditioning temperature with the laptop sitting in a typical way a user would have it), but if it's constantly shutting off or down-clocking due to Thermal temperature, send me a PM of what hardware you have as well as a report from GPU-Z if you have an nVidia graphics card on your laptop and I'll see what I can do. It may be as simple as opening it up and blowing out the dust, or it may be replacing the fan and heatsink assembly in there which is a bit of work at times or applying some better thermal paste that is better than the crap some PC makers put in there or as a replacement to old paste. None the less, the laptop should NOT be overheating. It won't last long otherwise.

What's FUBAR? It seems the only thing I can find out about it is that it's an online bar.

Yep, one of my friends already suggested that to me, and I've downloaded and am using Audacity right now.

It's not doing it constantly; I only have this problem when I'm either doing a lot of graphics-related things at once on my laptop, or running particular large software files, such as Adobe programs. This problem is usually resolved to a manageable level if I put the laptop over the air conditioning vent if the air conditioning is on, or turn on a floor fan and make it blow directly into the laptop's fan.
