The US thinking about Internet censorship!

The US government is making a hefty decision on Internet censorship, and may end up being just like China and Iran... Please, if you rebel and dislike the idea of websites being blocked by the government (if you live in the US)...

BTW, x10hosting does much of what the bill in question does.

The "free speech" that the bill targets are thieves and pirates.

I'm fine with getting rid of those pirating pirates.

But, I'm sure we're going to get to a point where the first ammendment also covers the Internet (it may already).

not that I encourage anyone to break the law - and yes that does target the pirates - but if you REALLY wanted to view these sites then the word proxy springs to mind.

Since I am an Indian, the bill doesn't really affect me but I plan to pursue my higher ed in US I guess I would want to sign the petition.

I do not think the US government is heading toward curbing the rights of free expression of its citizen over Internet. I think what they are doing is nothing more than tackling the menace of security threats over Internet.
