I have a HTC Tattoo. And like all Android devices, it has this weird limitation of lack of proxy settings on the WiFi network. For this reason, I cannot access the web on my device and I am finding it useless.
I rooted my Android and tried several hacks on it but it still doesnt respect any proxy setting. Tired, I unrooted it as left it as it is.
Now I am planning a different alternative. The University LAN extends to the our faculty quarters and so, to our home too. We can connect upto 4 computers on the home using WiFi. Maybe, I could set up a gateway that could intercept the packets from my Android device and then tunnel it through the University proxy, as the proxy supports HTTP/1.1 CONNECT option.
Any help regarding how to set this up will be appreciated. This way my other devices that do not support proxies can access the internet too.
