itunes sound issue

After i updated itunes all my music files sound like this:

Any idea's on how to fix this? I hate itunes but unfortunately need it for my iphone and mp3 player

It sounds like an NES lol...

What I would do is check the sampling rate iTunes is trying to use. Perhaps it was changed to a setting your sound card does not support after updating. A good bet for working settings should be 44.1Khz at 16-bits. Also, check the sound setting in your control panel. Make sure Full Hardware Acceleration is being used for sound and if you are using Windows Vista/Windows 7, ensure that the sampling rate (Under the Advanced Tab) is set to default.
