Xubuntu 7.10 Wireless Network Connection Help Needed

For the last few hours I've been trying to get xubuntu to get work with my wireless network.
The previous version worked just fine. This one is doing all kinds of things.

Sometimes it says it's connected, but it isn't.
Sometimes it works for a few seconds
Sometimes it doesn't work at all.

I can ping the router. But I can't ping anything else. I've tried pinging ubuntu from other computers in my house, but that doesn't work. Ubuntu can't reach them either.

The wireless connection strength is 86%. It doesn't change. But it should be a lot higher than that because that computer is just a few feet away from the router. There isn't anything in the way. When I'm at the other side of my house the wireless signal is 90%.

When I turn my router off, it does show that there isn't a signal. When I turn it back on it picks up the signal again. But that's it.

I can't figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Edit: After xubuntu connects, Firefox can connect to ubuntu.com for a few seconds but not long enough to bring up the page.

Edit: And now my entire network crashed

You tried it out on Windows? I am not sure if it is a problem related to Ubuntu or there is a problem with the network itself.

Everything but the ubuntu machine can connect.
Ubuntu is communicating with the router. In the router log, it does have dhcp releases that are made to ubuntu. But when I view the connected wireless computers, only my win xp laptop shows up.

There might be some problem with the installed packages for the wireless adapter, you have the latest releases?

Have you enabled Wireless Card Access? It stops wireless computers from accessing your router unless its MAC code is added to the router's WCA list.

I enabled it, and a few months back, I got a new laptop, and it bothered the crap outta me trying to fix it.. I finally remembered that I had WCA on.

    I give up.
It seems a lot of people are having the same problem as me. So I'm installing the previous version of xubuntu right now.
