As the king of finding crap that is free :P I will now show you the best way to send AND RECIEVE free text messages from your PC... Just go to this site:
http://www.411sms.com/freesms
and sign up for free, then you can enter phone number of the people you would like to text and then the messages will be sent... The people can then send u messages back by replying to a unique number that is sent when you send the message. Check it out... its really sweet

If you sign into t-mobile or verizon, I think they let you send text messages from the main website.

VOIP comn. [sending "phone" type data over the net to reduce costs] without a valid license may be illeagal in some countries/territories. Please be cautious........

i didnot tried that, but you can send sms to airtel of andhra pradesh by sending email to the number@airtelap.com by gmail
