Okay, anyway....here's the problem. Factory-installed computers are not meant to be played with like that. They purposely make it a hassle to customize anything. The only solution I can think of is to go to the boot menu when you start up your computer (usually an F-somenumber button), and select the partition you want to boot from every time. If it still doesn't boot up Vista, then your Vista partition is corrupt and you'll probably need to reinstall all over again. Either that, or you screwed up your computer entirely. And the worst part is...when you install a new OS on a factory laptop, it voids the warranty!!

I think as of now the warranty is void. But there is another software which you can try it. It's called Vista BootPro. The website is http://www.vistabootpro.org/

The safest and easiest way of doing this is to format your drive(backup everything of course) install XP first then install Vista. Doing it this way, Vista will see XP and add it to the boot menu automatically. Installing Vista first and then XP is bad because it will take over the bootloader and you run into the situation you are in now.

If you want to leave things they way you have them, boot of the Vista cd and run the start up repair then use a program like EasyBCD to add XP to the boot menu.

boot XP, go to the run menu and type \boot.ini
change the boot loader timeout to a suitable time (long enough for you to change OS's
also changing around the lines of code changes the order they will appear

    N00B way
if your too scared to try all of this, boot up XP
    open system properties (advanced tab)
    startup and recovery settings
the top section is what your looking for

this also means you have to supervise almost every boot (untill your comfortable with your choices)

all this typing would be useless if your vista was corrupt though.

    good luck.
Check the basics, then try complex stuff.
