I have always used SmartFTP.

It has a very nice GUI with lots of features.

I use file-zilla client for ftp client
and file-zilla server for ftp server

both are free and easy to configure.

File-zilla is the best, without any doubt. Also available portable, for running off a flash drive.

btw my friend had a problem with file-zilla when he was uploading some big files.Did anyone else had this problem?

I have used almost all that is being discussed here.

SmartFTP :- good one with good GUI and easy userinterface
Fillezilla :- equally good
CuteFtp :- good
Winscp :- for Tfp support etc.

The one which is built in with internet explorer is easy to use but have security problems.
