I can see how it might come in useful if a newer version of something is causing problems on a particular machine.
But you do realize the majority of software on that page is either freeware or open-source to begin with, right?

Some of them may be usefull, all the newer versions have more features/more easy to use tho, so i dont see what they could be used for. also, paint.net is a good free image editing tool.
