Every AV program has a place in their settings to make exclusions. Whether it be file, folder, process, etc. I would find the process the monitoring program uses and then add that as an exclusion in your AVG settings.

For what the program is doing, I wouldn't be surprised to see Antivirus programs balking at it. Just make sure you set that program as deny all access to the internet and network with your Firewall, as there's always the possibility this program you have installed is in fact actual spyware that was created to "phone home." Otherwise, can you tell us what Antivirus program you use? That'll make it easy for us to help you exclude it in the Antivirus.
