Question Recommend good AM2+/AM3 socket motherboard?

    Hi Everyone,

I am going to build a computer, but am stuck with decisions for the motherboard. Can anyone recommend a good AM2+ or AM3 socket motherboard.

If not AMD socket, can anyone recommend a particularly good intel motherboard?

I would like to have onboard graphics, but its not a must.

    Thanks in advance. :happysad:

It's been a few years since I built a computer, but when I did i always went with a company called ASUS for motherboards. They cost a little more, but they are a solid company with good boards. At least they were, I'm not sure what is happening now.

If they make the type of board you require, it's probably a good choice.

I'm using the Supermicro C2SEA (an intel proc board) and it works great. Nice integrated graphics too.

I'd say look at ASUS. They've got some pretty good boards out. If you're looking at MSI, they're pretty good as well. I'd take note that some of the MSI boards I've heard about have been having some issues with PCI-E slots

i would select the GigaByte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P it can fit two single or multi gpu cards and youll be able to fit a pci-pci-x1 cards if you wish. but this board is for ATI crossfire only if you are going for 2 graphics cards in your setup as for the memory it can support upto 16GB DDR3 1333 (1600 OC) max it works pretty good a friend has this board which i installed for him so im planning on getting this one with 2 HD4890 cards and maybe even 16GB at 1600MHz

Hey i have Asus M2N68-AM motherboard. So far no problems. If you want to go for integrated graphics go for it cause the price difference is very less and you get a decent NVidia graphics with asus boards. You can upgrate it later if you want to.

I would suggest against on-board video. Sure it's cheaper, but good luck trying to upgrade it on the board itself/replacing the board which would probably be more expensive than getting a separate video card. Besides, easier to troubleshoot as well with a separate card.
