The free subdomain

Other domain tools E.g addon domains, parked domains etc.

Daily backups
500mb of disk space (ad free)
The vast bandwidth
Softaculous (auto installer)

The various languages supported definetely -- maybe I'm behind the times, but many free hosters limit you to php and mysql (and some are static) -- here you can also use bash and you also have cron access which is, simply put, great. I'm not a great fan of having only three addon/subdomains - and similarly with dbs, but you can always upgrade, so it's not a great problem for me, these are just slight niggles...
I did try another hosting company called 000webhost.com, and they actually limit the number of files you can have-which was really annoying. Everything else was great, but the limit was 3000, which was quickly used up by Joomla.
I agree with the scripting, too. Its really important that you can customise a site however you want to, and this extra functionality is very important in my eyes.
What's great about x10 is that it has everything a person needs to build a simple website including some emails they can hook on with their registered domain, and of course it's free! ;)

I was going to pick all of them, seeing as I like all the features on x10Hosting, but I decided to pick out the ones that I use most often.
Also, I picked "other" for our awesome free hosting and the large number of dedicated community support representatives.![]()
Gee, I think I missed the fact that they support Ruby.Support for many scripting languages (php, html, ASP.NET, python, ruby)
And from some of the problem posts, I think ASP.NET has its problems (due to the limitations of Mono). But that might happen on any host on an *nix box.
And you forgot Perl.
And there have been some questions about the Eunich version of PHP offered. But considering that even with the restrictions on PHP, users still seem to be able to get into trouble, I'm not sure if offering a 'safe' version is not a bad idea.
But considering most free hosts barely let you do any scripting, the ability to experiment and learn different languages is very nice.
Nothing is always absolutely so.
I knew I'd forget one type of script-thanks for reminding me. I'll see if I can edit it and add it to the list. And yes, I think x10 support ruby, but I may be wrong. I think x10 are leagues ahead of other web hosts in this field, simply because of the wide range of support offered.
I don't see Ruby mentioned anywhere, even in their Premium Hosting.
But I do have another account on another free service.
PHP, with ability to install PEAR modules. ImageMagick, SOAP, and Zlib installed, magic quotes turned off.
Perl, with ability to install any CPAN module.
Ruby on Rails, with ability to install gems.
Python, with the Django framework.
JSP (must be requested)
ASP.NET via Mono 1.9.1
While x10 is far superior to most in scripting, it is not the best.
Now, there are tradeoffs in other areas. Bandwidth and storage is less.
And I like x10. I look at the complete package. Otherwise I would not be here. I would not spend time trying to help people with their programming problems.
And, no. I am not going to name the other site. Not here. Not in PMs.
Nothing is always absolutely so.
