Age old question, AMD vs INTEL !

This is simple, choose which is better in your eyes.

If looking at the facts, the truth is clear. But what do you think?

I think Intel just edges AMD in this battle, though not by much...since Intel keeps releasing more and more products, whereas AMD just seems to lag behind it, with the speeds increasing and the size of the chip decreasing Intel recently launched its own Quad core engine, and it costs .....Whew!!!

I am an AMD. Even though intel has come out with the quadcore line. Still won't make me buy one.

I am sure AMD will have a better processor before long.

Intel if you have unlimited budget, but AMD gives better performance for limited budgets :D

Ok, wasnt going to give the game away to soon, but people are so wrongly informed.

AMD out weighs Intel hands down.

Lets take the DUO core ranges for example:
AMD's runs colder than Intles across the board.
During Idle and max usage AMD's use a lower voltage, even lower than intels new L2 stepping. Funny how the B2 idles at double the voltage yet they still make it.
Performance, AMD wins hands down, thier bottom of the range 64 runs faster and handles multi procesing better than the wallet breaking Intel flagship chip.
Performance is now no longer AMD for graphics and intel for applications. AMD crushes Intel for both.
And then last but not least, price. Well we all know that Intel is just like microsoft. They rip you for everything you got.

Look around and find something relating to this year (2007) that says otherwise.
    Edit:

The reason AMD is just behind could be something to do with quality control.

Intel released the B2 stepping Dual core chip (the first dual core chip around) and then months later AMD came with one. Maybe this was cause the intel chip ran at a excessivly high voltage and the AMD chip ran quiet n cool at a very low voltage. Then intel released the L2 that runs half the voltage, yet still not as low as the AMD chip.

OK well you asked for the Intel vs. AMD.

For you AMD lovers take a look and see why we Intel lovers prefer Intel.

Here is the conclusion of the article if you don't want to read the whole thing

    http://techreport.com/articles.x/12091/14

If you truly want to know more about this indepth testing they did start from the begining.

    http://techreport.com/articles.x/12091

Not even 2 Dual core AMDs can compair to 1 Intel Quad Core, You also only have one mother board option if you want a quad core AMD.

So for about $2400.00 you could have the fastest Quad Core AMD with motherboard:dunno::nuts: or for about $1400.00 you can have an even faster Intel Quad Core Extreme!:naughty:

Have a good read at that URL and then lets discuss this some more!

Re: Age old question, AMD vs INTEL !

Honestly, to me it's a question of application and budget. Quite frankly, your normal home user who is not a hardcore programmer or twitch gamer would not benefit overly much from an Intel processor. They don't *need* the floating point that is part of the Intel processor, and thus why spend the money?

For the hardcore programmers, developers, CAD people, and yes the twitch gamers, the Intel is the best way to go. They are the ones that would benefit from that floating point the most, and thus justify the extra expense.

Frankly, I chose AMD because I don't fall into the second category. When I was doing my computer consulting business I *always* found out what they were going to do with the computer, and made recommendations accordingly. If you want Intel, go Intel. If you want AMD, go AMD. Really, for most people they are the same. :dunno:
