The inactivity rule is there for a reason-to help keep accounts that are not being used from taking up resources on our servers. The 31 day limit is very generous already. It takes about 5 minutes to log in out of 44,000 odd in 31 days. It's not that much to ask in exchange for a 100% free hosting service.
We have. As stpvoice mention, the inactivity rule is present to help us single out inactive accounts. It used to be a 14 (or 21) day inactivity rule, but now it's a 31 day inactivity rule. It's a compromise between you not wanting to log in and us wanting to find out which accounts are active and which are not.
