Newbie cant find File Manager in C.Panel....

    hi all!

the brights please have a little patience with the dumb, ok, i ve just signed up yesterday, read through the FAQs on how to upload my site, it said to go to c panel and upload using file manager, so there i went, but no file manager in sight, there re various options for account settings and thats all i see, have i gone to the wrong page?

also, how do i see the link to my site, please? i think i signed up with a dot exofire extension, but i cant find it on my profile page!?

i read something here about ads-enhanced account, how does it work? do i need to be a paying member before i can put my own ads? i found this site on google search and it said no enforced ads, and own ads allowed, is it true?

thanks and i hope someone could help me out!

    emmy.

    Hello

First of what you see is probably the account panel (x10hosting.com/panel.php) and not cPanel. Your actual hosting account is not yet active by the look of things. It can take up 36 hours before an account is active, depending on how high the load is, though the normal state would be within 12 hrs.

All our free accounts allow you to place your own ads (google adsense for instance). There's no forced ads.

The ad-enhanced option is when you chose to place our ad-code to your site, on all pages, to get more resources. Depending on what ad-enhanced plan you chose you get 1 gb or 2.5 gb space for instance.

Re: Newbie cant find File Manager in C.Panel....

ah, i see, i did see the message read 'account pending creation', i thought it means its waiting for me to create it, ihih, embrarassing, whilst it actually means, its waiting for the admin team to create it.

ok, i ll wait another day and see if i can access it then, thanks so much for the prompt reply! :D

    Edit:

    hallo again!

i m just after another futile search trying to find the file manager and the c.panel, after 2 days, on the 3 day since registering an account, the best i saw was the one in the tab that says user cp http://forums.x10hosting.com/usercp.php , no file manager there, so i used the blue search box at the upper right corner of the page, still no success...

i m lost now, could someone please copy n paste me the link to where i should go? i cant seem to find it.

    thanks again!

    emmy

Re: Newbie cant find File Manager in C.Panel....

    hallo ladyanna!

thanks so much again for the 'super efficient' reply! i found the file manager following your instrutions, i then uploaded a few pages, and clicked view, it opened up the source codes, but not the webpage itself, then i clicked download, and it downloaded the page without its auxililary files(no images no format), so i took a guess and hand typed /home.html and found my homepage(looking ok):

    http://magicploversblog.exofire.net/home.html

then i tried the links, but they wouldnt link at all!? so i tried typing in the file name after the dot net slash just like i did for the homepage, hoping to see at least webpage itself, but nothing:

    http://magicploversblog.exofire.net/gods%words%sept09.html

could you be so kind and tell me what i ve done wrong again this time?

sorry to be so annoying and thanks again for your help and patience!

    emmy

Re: Newbie cant find File Manager in C.Panel....

First of all, delete the current index.html file and rename your home.html to index.html, that way it would show up without putting the filename in url.

By looking in your file manager, I notice that you have named a file gods%words%sept09.html (using % in file names is not a good idea, I suggest renaming to gods-words-sept09.html, of course you'd need to change any links to that file accordingly.

Also it appears to me as many of the files you link to does not exist on the server, they are completely missing. poems&songs%oct09.html is one of those, as for naming the file, same goes there change the % signs to be - signs.

thank you soooooooo much! ihih! :D

    God bless you! :D

    Edit:*********************************

am just after trying to upload the rest of the files, yet i am unable to rename nor delete those files with % in their filenames, i tried right-clicking and also using the buttons from the top menu bar, both ways, i clicked but nothing happens, how may i delete those files, please?

    Edit:**********************************

also, the 2 pages named poems&songs oct'09 and sept'09 have became uneditable, they opened up just like other pages do, but the codes all disappeared!?

Re: Newbie cant find File Manager in C.Panel....

have you tried deleting them through an ftp client? If that also fails I think you'll need someone with a higher access level then me to delete them.

the poems&songs files seem to be editable to me.
