SMTP Mail Port 26 co.cc

I see I am not the only one have this problem:

You can receive mail but you cant send any. Mail is usually sent using the SMTP port (25), however x10hosting has adopted the use of port 26 for sending mail. So far as yet, no members of staff have responded to this issue.

I beleive the problem is occurring because .co.cc does not run a service on port 26, and thus, no mail can routed to port 26 on the x10hosting servers.

I dont know why x10 have adopted this non-conventional port although it may have something to do with people using x10 as a spam farm.

I know this does not solve the problem we are experiencing, but I beleive its pointless to continue trying to fix it - sending mail using a .co.cc address is just not supported with x10.

If my opinion is incorrect then please let us know how the issue is resolved.

Apart from this, Im having great fun, I just cant authenticate any of my users.

I just want to add, that whatever the problem WAS, it is resolved now as far as email authentication from my x10 server is concerned, however there is still a problem with access from outlook - which isnt big problem since its a no-reply type email Im sending out.

Don't use your co.cc domain as the smtp server address:
I.e. you can send email from an address on your domain, but send it directly through whatever x10 server you are on: as your smtp server, select server.x10hosting.com (change server to your server name), and do not enter your .co.cc domain. You just need to log in to the X10 smtp server with whatever details cpanel gives you, which means that the email is still sent from your domain email address. E.g. for an email address randomguy@random.co.cc, you authenticate as user randomguy+random.co.cc, but still through the X10 server.

Also, I don't think there should be a problem with the .co.cc domain, provided dns is set up correctly to use X10 nameservers. If you haven't set up dns as such, then you might have problems.

As an aisde: you should ideally use SMTP over SSL, which runs over port 465. This encrypts all traffic to the server, meaning at least that part can't be spied on. In that case you must use the X10 address, since you can't set up certificates for your own domains here.

I can confirm that if the nameservers are set correctly the issue itself with sending mail via port 26 would not cause problems for the domain. The domain itself does not know what ports things need to be sent on. It's related to either the settings you have set for your domain in the .co.cc account area or the settings you have set up in your cPanel.
