Cannot drop mysql database
Hi there,
in my free hosting account I've got 2 mysql dbs and i need to drop one of them
as far as i understand, in order to drop a db i need to go through cpanel-->mysql databases and from there delete the db
i tried this many times but couldn't get any result, cpanel just tells me that the db has been dropped but it hasn't
could you please help me?

Okay, step by step
Step1: Login to your control panel.
Step2: Click on MySQL database
Step3: Delete the databaase
Click on Home and see for the no of database used. I'm sure it is reduced by one. If you still see the database but your number is reduced then you don't have to worry. What's the problem there?

nope, tried many times, the sql databases counter in the cpanel home is still telling me there are 2 out of 3 possible dbs...
i know this sound silly, and i've been using cpanels long enough, but it just won't drop...

okay, try this, remove all users from the database and then try to delete it.

and :D think carefully before deleting it, the ghost of your old database may try to take revenge from you.

same result, i've deleted the users some 2 weeks ago, the db is not usable as there is no user assigned...it just sits there... watching me

use phpmyadmin to delete your database

From the SQL statement window.....
I got a nice big alert window telling me that
"DROP DATABASE" statements are disabled."
And so the journey of the ghost database continues...

why don't you just login to phpmyadmin & drop all of the tables for that database? Then you can reuse that same database for whatever project you need it for.
