Can I use custom domains on x10hosting?

I have signed up as a free hosting member. I now have a domain of the form: http://example.x10hosting.com/ In the domain modifying page, if I give a custom domain, ie, of the type http://www.example.com/, will my site be available at that address? Do I have to pay to get a custom domain?
Can I register any domain for free at anywhere?

Yes, You can use your own domain.

Top Level domains like .com, .net, .org etc... has to be purchased.

Anyway there are free services like co.cc, .tk, .co.nr, cz.cc which gives domains for free.

You can google them

Once you purchase or create your domain

Set the nameservers to
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

The propagation may take upto 48hours

Then Park the domain in your cpanel

OR
Make it primary domain in your account panel.
