    File Permissions

    Hi.
Am very sorry to bother you again , but I have another problem.

in my main cpanel (public_html) (i-marketing.exofire.net) I have a series of text files (.txt) which
run a small FFA script which shows on my main page. These were previously set to 777 and there
was no problem. However, they are now set to 000 and whenever I try to change to 777 they auto
    revert back to 000.

These txt files need 777 in order to work my script.

    Please advise
    Thank you
    ML

    Re: File Permissions

It should be set to 0750. Are you allowed to create a new file in public_html?

    Re: File Permissions

    Hello,

Your text files should now be 0777 (those that were previously 0000).

You were set as owner for those files so there's no reason why you could not change them, other then possibly that the fact 0000 basically means no one has write access to them.

    Re: File Permissions

    Hi Anna !

Errrrr............ I've just looked at the files via cpanel and ftp and they are still 0000 ???

I think you have experienced what happened to me several times yesterday. All appeared to go to 0777 when
changed in cpanel but when the file manager is closed they auto revert back to 0000 !!!

    Spooky eh ???

    will await your next reply....

    thank you

    Re: File Permissions

    Hi Brandon !

I've cleared all my temp internet files etc and according to my browsers (IE8 and Firefox)
the text files are still 0000

    ???

again... i think this is what happened to me yesterday when u think that you've changed
them and then they auto revert back somehow ????

I've also tried to changed via FTP but get a messahe saying :-

    Command: SITE CHMOD 777 busi.txt
Response: 550 Could not change perms on busi.txt: Permission denied

    PERMISSION DENIED !!!

    I really don't understand this...........

Oh dear.............looks like your forum has the gremlins too !!!!!

In the end I decided to uninstall the whole script.

I then reinstalled and set permissions....but those damned text files have now gone
and reverted back to 0000 again.

Whatever happens it is not allowing me to change.

    Any more ideas please ???
