Are you sure that there isn't a link in the confirmation email to click on or go to in order to confirm your email? I don't recall an actual individual code other than a visiting link to confirm. I could be wrong, though. I'll ask.

yup, I've got the link in there, but that just sends me to the account management page. I still have to click my way to the email confirmation page. There I am supposed to fill in the code. Code is nowhere to find. Unfortunately. I tried re-send the confirmation mail, but obviously it did not help..
