"General Error" MySQL database problem

I installed phpBB via the cPanel and I'm constantly getting an SQL error whenever I try to do things. The majority of the time it brings up this:

"General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Lost connection to MySQL server during query [2013]"

It then goes on to list a bunch of other things that change depending on what I was doing at the time. Is there a way to fix this? I tried repairing the database via the cPanel, any everything came back as "OK", but it's still doing it.

I couldn't find an edit button to add to my post, so I did this instead. Hope it's okay.

I just wanted to add that this is only happening when using the ACP.

Deleted the old database, user and forum.

Created a new database and user, then uploaded phpBB 3.0.8 manually. Ran through the setup fine, but still receiving the same MySQL error.
