Will Freechat cause undo stress on the server resources?

    Hi.

Finally I think I have found the chat program for my Joomla site that meets all of my requirements, but before I install this I need your input.

    Readme.txt:

    Requirements:
    *Joomla with community builder
    *Connections must be Enabled
*at least 2 people that are connected must be online to chat.

    Changes Made:
1.you will be able to chat even while you browse different pages.
    2.option for nickname/username.
3.single css file for both(chatbar n chatbox)! and some performance updates!
    4.some images added
    5.And many more!

Does this program use x10 servers, and it's resources like Shoutbox? It doesn't mention anything about using other servers for connection, so this is why I need your input.

The rest of the readme is how to install it.

    Thanks guys....Cheers, and take care!

If the script uses our database, or otherwise store files on our server, that would be something that violates our free hosting TOS.

    * Shoutbox\Chat Scripts: Use of these scripts is strictly forbidden due to the amount of MySQL queries they take. Accounts found with chat scripts or shoutboxes will be suspended.
If it is an embedded chat from a different server, that would be ok and not cause stress on our server.

To add on to what Anna has said, Joomla! makes it easy for you to find the right script for your site.

All of these are OK: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensi...on/chat-hosted
All of these will get you suspended: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensi...unication/chat

    Simple.

If you do not have to go to another website/host and sign up and make an account for their chat program service (and it will say that it is hosted on their servers), then it violates x10hosting's T.O.S.
    Nothing is always absolutely so.

    Hello Anna.

See that is the problem I am running into. I don't know if that is what it does. The documentation is very lite in informing me if it uses your webhost servers database, or if stores files. I guess I am asking since you folks have been around a long time, and if anyone has used this software on the free account successfully without being banned would be a great.

From what I can gather, in order for two people or more to chat, I have to ensure that Community Builder has connections active, and the people who are wishing to chat must be have each listed as friends in their profiles.

I guess this Freechat software uses the internal Community Builder Connection option to relay the chat. Now I don't know if that uses your database or not( I don't if I am saying this correctly or not). I'm definitely not a programmer, so for me to know if databases are used or not is unknown to me.

Anyway, until I get an okay I won't install it.

    Cheers Anna, and take care.

Freechat! is listed in the second link I provided, which is not allowed.
