Can't install Joomla

Hello. I've downloaded Joomla 1.5 from the official website, unzipped it to my PC, uploaded it via FTP using WinSCP and started the installation. In control panel, using the MySQL wizard i created a new database and a user with full privileges. Then I provided the details on the installation page. Sadly, this is what it displays: "Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL". I have no idea what have I done wrong. Please help.

You are on Chopin and Chopin has been having difficulties with MySQL which the Admins have not been able to track down. That might be the source of your problem. No ETA when the continuing problem will be fixed.

You can try re-creating the db and user and re-attaching the user to the db with ALL PRIVILEGES checked just in case.

Gosh, it took me 2 hours to upload all the joomla stuff to the server. Could you tell me if I entered the host name right? Should it be "localhost"?
