If I add an addon domain can I have a seperate website?

My website is www.scotlandbackpacking.com. If I added an addon domain into CPanel, would it create a new folder so that I could upload a new seperate website into it? For eg www.pinkphones.com would point to a completely different website to www.scotlandbackpacking.com. Or would www.pinkphones.com end up pointing to www.scotlandbackpacking.com?

If this is not possible, is it ok for me to open a second account and have another free website with you? Thanks.

The way cPanel handles add-on domains is that it creates a subdirectory of public_html and you put the files for your add-on in there. So your description is correct. The domains point to different content.

Technically, if you added child.com and put the files in public_html/child , you could access the files via parent.com/child , but if that is a worry, you can add a line in .htaccess to prohibit this.

If you add the new domain as a parked domain, that is when the files are the same.

And lastly, the rule is that you are only allowed one Free Hosting Account per person.
    Nothing is always absolutely so.
