newb ftp question (port # clarification)

thanks for the free hosting. looks good.
i have a Q regarding ftp. i just downloaded a GNU ftp client (filezilla). my x10 info states the required port is 21.
filezilla suggest by default 14147. obviously i tried 21 first of all. no connection - ftp client suggests i am listening to the wrong port. so i try 14147. the connection (briefly connecting?) gets lost.

would you please confirm 21 is the correct port. any pointers also would help.

Yes, port 21 should be correct. What is the exact error message you are receiving?

Make sure your other information is correct:

Host: your main domain
User name: your cPanel user name
Password: your cPanel password
Port: 21

downloaded smartFTP. eveything working on port 21. sorry to trouble you
