My own CGI allowed?

Hi,

New to this hosting service, my apologies if I am asking something that sounds obvious.

I signed up because I got the impression that you were allowed to write your own cgi scripts to your webpage. This is correct, right?

I am wondering now, because I can't seem to get my cgi to work, it says 404 forbidden, even though it's permission is 755.

If the answer to the previous question is "yes", then my follow up question is, where is perl located on your system? "/bin/perl" and "/usr/bin/perl" would be my guesses, but it is hard to tell.

Is there a place I can look up these basic system questions? I have checked the FAQ and the wiki and the knowledge base. No errors turned up in the error log, which is the place I normally would go look for cgi errors.

NO you can't use them.
CGI and PERL are disabled on free servers.

If you would like to use them, then you may consider upgrading to x10 premium service.

CGI is currently disabled on the free servers. Your going to need Illuminated or Premium hosting to make use of it.
