Constant internal server errors

Im aware that there has been some changes on the free server side but the constant problems

seem to be getting very frequent of late ?

i cant even edit my website without it throwing constant server errors ?

how long can we expect such problems to be occuring admin?

And to add to that i cant rarely open my joomla sub directory either as im getting 500 error?

Hello,
Could you please give us a link that is giving you a 500 Internal Server Error? I was able to browse your site without problems. Also make sure that all your files' permissions are set to 644 and that your folders' permissions are set to 755.

I can confirm there are many folders with improper permissions; inside public_html:

The folders data, images, web_documents, web_flash, web_images, and web_media all have 777 and should be 755 or any php file within them is inaccessible.


There may very well be others, but these are the ones I found on a quick glance.

how can the folder permissions have changed?

ive certainly not changed them ?

do i need to check all the files are 755?

Files should normally be 644; I'm not sure what caused the folders to go to 777, however there's also the possibility that the installer itself set them to 777. Not entirely positive why they did that mind you, but some installers think they have to have 777 set for the script to run right. Most actually run just fine in 755


Edit: Forgot to note, I didn't see any files that were of concern on my first glance, just that some of the folders were 777's.

yes they are 777 today also

some of those that you changed to 755 are now 777 ?

I didn't change any back to 755 actually, I left them as they were. I try not to mess with permissions cause I've actually screwed up my own test account twice trying to fix my own permissions via SSH (which I use for reviewing accounts if needbe) instead of FTP or cPanel :P
