Site loading time.

Hello, I have opened a website (wordpress based, with BuddyPress installed) for fans of the show a the Hub Channel. Me and my site testers have noticed that the site can sometimes take a very long time to load the page and can be bothersome when posting and doing other tasks on the site. Is there a reason for this?

The reason for this slowness is the fact that all of our free servers have lots of accounts to deal with, and at peak times can become very loaded. If consistent speed is something you require, then I'd suggest an upgrade to Illuminated or Premium, where there are considerably fewer users per sever.
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about the slowness otherwise, as the speed of the server is at the mercy of the internet. I hope you'll understand the predicament.
