Mysql Error - Too many connections

Hello.

I'm new here. I started my website a few days ago. I'm now having Mysql errors (Too many connections).
The point is max connections allowed (according to the mysql values) is set to 500. It is absolutely impossible for me to reach that limit. I don't get why it keeps giving me that error quite sometimes. I don't have that many visitors, it's impossible.

Can you help me ? It's really annoying and I have to close the website each time it does that. I tried to optimize each mysql request, I think I did all I could, but it doesn't work.

I'm hosted on Chopin server.
