wordpress issue

I created an account last night for a new site and installed wordpress via softilicious(sp). I was able to view the site fine last night before bed. This morning, I was not able to. Once I could access it, I went into my wordpress admin page and tried to update to the lastest version via the autoupdate (i done this before on a different site I have hosted here with no problems). it never completes. I get the message that it is unpacking the update, but it never goes beyond this. i also tried installing a plugin and I get basically the same message.

I hopped over to my other site hosted here that uses wordpress (that in the past could install and update wordpress and plugins just fine) and tried updating wordpress via the automatic update. I get the same message. I have noticed that access to both wordpress admin panels seem to be slower than what i remember.

Any ideas of what I could try to remedy the problem?

quick update. Still not working for me. I uninstalled and reinstalled wordpress numerous times. It also seems now that i can not install themes. It gets stuck on the unpacking the package message that both trying to update wordpress or install plugins are showing. It looks like it obtains the files but just cant open or execute them. I know, for sure, that the theme is valid as I had it working earlier today on a different host. Is stoli having issues?
