PHP mailer function not working

good morning everyone

ive been trying to test my php mailer function via my joomla site and its stopped working?

the sites telling me its been sent but it hasnt so wonder if there is a fault server side?

ive not changed any of the settings my my global config on my joomla site so i thought i would drop by and ask admins /helpers advice to see if there was a problem with the php mail service on stoli?

also does certain isp block php mail from x10 ? if so how can i get round it?

Hello,

The mail script must have the content-type header present and set to text/plain or it will not work. Also, some providers block mail from x10. Hotmail is a known issue, but I know that all servers can send to GMail with no issues. I'd suggest signing up for a free Google Apps account, and using their SMTP servers for outgoing mail. This bypasses both our restrictions and blacklisting issues.

i actualy do have a google acount stp and a gmail acount so that might be an idea?
now when i send say a system e-mail or a mass mail to all the mebers of the site
will i have to put the settings in the global config section of the joomla admin panel?
and would it be set to php mail function or sendmail or stmp server?

also i did 3 test sign ups to different acounts when members sign up

live .co .uk passed
hotmail.co.uk passed
aol.com failed

Hello,

You'd need to use an SMTP server. Not sure if it would work with a standard gmail account. Google Apps is different.
