Despite now being 100% certain that I have the correct password set, I still can't log into the cPanel for my web hosting account ... if this issue is not resolved in 24 hours, we will be looking for another web hosting service, seeing as our money does not appear to be well spent here.

It can sometimes take a while for the change to go through all of the systems, to cPanel in particular.
And what money? You're getting the service for free.
