    IP-instead of domain

    Hello, i have this question:

for example I have domain: www.name.pcriot.com
    and Shared IP Address: 69.1XX.XXX.XXX

could i use IP address instead of domain? for instance, i have test.html and my URL is like this: www.name.pcriot.com/test.html , now how to convert this URL to use IP adress isnted of "name.pcriot.com" ?

    Re: IP-instead of domain

    Basically, you can't.

The IP is like the address of a huge apartment building. If you just send that over the Web, when it gets to the apartment building (in this case your server), there is no way for the doorman to know which apartment to send you to.

When you use the full domain name, the Web figures out the IP (via the DNS system) and sends the request there, but the request includes your domain name, so the doorman knows which apartment to route you to.
    Nothing is always absolutely so.

If you get premium hosting, an IP is $1/mo extra and you can do this as that IP only points to your hosting.

    Re: IP-instead of domain

well... when I write, for example www.google.com it the URL it converts the domains into the IP 74.125.232.210. Do this IP and the domain is finally "the same", if I write 74.125.232.210 in the URL i will be on an google's default web page.
So cant I do the same?

If you get your own IP, yes. I don't think Google has a shared IP.
