Can't upload files

I'm trying to upload a file here. If I try to do it with the file manager, it's says it's uploaded, but it's not. If I use FileZilla, it says
"Answer: 227 Entering Passive Mode (69,175,122,178,151,157).
Command: STOR index.html
Answer: 550 index.html: Permission denied" and "Critical error while transferring".

I'm new in this and I was messing with most of the files in my folder, including hidden ones, is it possible for me to damage the "uploading" part?
