ftp login unrecognised

for a while I was able to log into my account without using the entire email adress.I could login using my ftp name or my other login name without the entire email adress what gives how can I log into ftp if the system doesnt recognise my ftp account name?

Are you talking about logging into your account panel https://x10hosting.com/control/login.php? If so, then yes, you need to login using your email. It doesn't affect your other usernames (forum or cPanel) nor ftp.
