    Need Help Getting Blog Up

    Hi folks!

First time user here. I've signed up recently and been working to restore my blog, but I have
    run into a few issues.

I originally signed up using davezan.xm6.com or something as the "main domain". My goal was
to eventually tie in my domain name davezan dot com to it.

At first I put it in as an add-on domain to that account. But after uploading my WP database
via phpMyadmin, it looks like the data was "linked" to my blog as davezan dot com instead of
    the then davezan.xm something something.

I saw an option to change what would be the main domain in my account. So I switched it
from your subdomain to my main domain instead.

Unfortunately nothing seems to be working. I'm rather anxious to restore my blog ASAP.

Sorry if I made any screwups or so. I just thought what I did would fix it...only to see it did
    not, obviously.

Kindly advise how to get the domain name to pull up the blog, or whatever magic (hehe) you
    guys can do. Thanks.

You'd need to change the file paths to the resources Wordpress is looking for. This will involve opening phpMyAdmin and editing your database directly. Open cPanel, and the visit phpMyAdmin. From there, click your Wordpress Database's name from the left side of the page. On the right side of the page as well as the left, you will see a listing of the tables within the Database. Click on "wp-options." From this point, locate any address that says "davezan.x10.mx" and replace it with the name of your domain. Keep in mind that Wordpress has many, many pieces of information inside of the wp_options table, so you will need to change the page phpMyAdmin is showing you (if you know what I mean) or change the amount of displayed entries.

I hope I'm clear enough on this. If your blog is empty, you can simply reinstall it under your new domain name. Just empty your current database out, and upload a fresh copy of Wordpress to your account.

Thanks for replying. What you said is exactly what I thought at first.

Just that I did something different...and possibly wrong. I input screenshots to maybe help a
bit. (and feel free to delete them soon after if they'll cause some security issue...)

In essence, I "attached" my domain name to the hosting account here. Or at least, that is
    what I'm hoping to achieve.

When I type my domain name on my browser, nothing happens. I'm looking to create a fresh
WP blog install instead, then take it from there.

Looks like the domain's DNS records are fine. Unless I'm missing something, and I'm sure I am.

    Kindly help. Thanks.

Or I guess it really has to be that subdomain?

Well, it doesn't have to be the subdomain you had at all. Your domain is working just fine on my end and is pointing to Chopin (the server you're on), as I see the Wordpress install loading up (minus the layout and images of course, which are not pointing correctly from that database entry!). Really if you wish to reinstall, just empty the database in phpMyAdmin (or delete it and recreate it), delete the current Wordpress files in public_html, re-upload the Wordpress Files and simply run the install again using your .com domain. If you installed Wordpress through Softaculous, uninstall Wordpress through Softaculous and then re-install it using whichever method you want.

    Hello,

I am currently able to view your blog at davezan.com -- if you are having issues seeing it please flush your DNS cache. It looks like your styles are still broken, however, so you will need to log into the admin area at http://davezan.com/wp-admin and change the paths that wordpress is using for that stuff (under Settings->General)

Well I'll be darned...so it does work! Apparently it's just a propagation thing.

Sadly the DNS flush didn't work. Looks like my ISP's reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally taking their damn
sweet time to update their own DNS cache, sigh.

Thanks everyone. At least I can rest assured I did the right things, but just needed time for
everything else to fall into place.

BTW, until I'm finally able to see the blog install page using my domain name, is there a kind
of temporary web address I can type in to at least install the blog and all?

I didn't use Softaculous or Fantastico, though. It's a "fresh" WordPress installation of their files itself.

Never mind, finally got it working. You can close this or something, thanks you all!
