I want HELP for E mail

Sir,
I am using mybb script.
When user signup completed, A verification E-mail will send to user's address.
But sending failed.
I (site admin) got error message like this

"MyBB was unable to send the email using the PHP mail() function."

I already checked some Mail() scipts on lotus server, All are failed.

So please give me a working 'mail testing script'
and required modification on my mybb script.
