Site Down - Missing Files Etc - Urgent Reply Please

Earlier I was trying to FTP only my index files and a few images but kept getting a
message stating that I cannot upload coz the files are 'read only'.......?

Have since tried to delete and upload again via the Cpanel file manager but then got the
following message :-

index.html: unknown Bytes complete FAILED! :Unknown error or disk quota exceeded.

I then tried going back via FTP but could not get connected. Now when I am in the
Cpanel I get this from the file manager :-

This directory is empty.

Trying to see if my site/s are still available to view I get this :-

404 Not Found
The resource requested could not be found on this server!
