Can't modify .htaccess in public_html folder

Since my previous ticket was closed with no explanation, I'm opening another one.

My problem is that I can't edit .htaccess in the public_html directory, I get access denied error while trying to save changes. Because of this I can't set redirects to my main domain. cPanel also gives me access denied error. Changing permissions to the main .htaccess file also doesn't work.
The other .htaccess files placed in the /public_html/domain_name/ folder are modifiable.

Can anyone help me, please?

Fixed, sorry the other ticket got closed automatically. Somewhere in there the .htaccess got changed to be owned by root so it wouldn't let you modify it; I've changed it back to you as owner so it should give you full control again.
