Problem with uploading my site into Public_html

It seems Im running into an issue, I've uploaded my .html file, and my php file into Public_html; I get the following message which opens in a new window. I've confirmed on my desktop that the .html link does work, however does the problem lay in putting the php file where it is? I saved the .PHP as a notepad file, can anyone tell me what's going on?

Make sure that all the letters of the file name and extension are lower case. Also make sure that when you upload the index.html that it overwrites the one already there.

so the file name of the html has to be index.html?

Sorry guys, it's all just confusing and I can't seem to figure this out. There's the cgi-bin, index.html, and write.php in my folder, yet NOTHING pops up when I enter the details of my site in, and I get the previous message; it's frustrating as I've been working on this for over a day and I feel so close but nothing is working.
