About LinkBacksum...I just noticed today that I apparently reached my disk space usage...the limit used to be "infinity"...or was that really not the limit? why has it changed to 1024 MB?

Server abuse, plain and simple. Not on your account, but on average -- far too many people were using their Free Hosting accounts for file hosting and personal backups. You can have the limit raised to the old unmetered level if your site is in compliance with the ToS and you actually need the space (for forum traffic, teaching resources, etc.) -- just append a request here.
