Softaculous errors

Whenever I click on something to install it, say "eggBlog", the following message appears "The INFO.XML file could not be found! Please contact the server administrator", is this a known issue?

Softaculous has been broken for some time, and when it's worked has been known to completely mess up some installs. I would recommend ignoring it and installing things manually. You can get eggBlog to do so with here: http://eggblog.net/

Whe attempting to install MediaWiki a few weeks ago, I got this error message, just as I was about to complete the installation process. Can you tell me what it means, please? (As a result, I cannot complete installation of MediaWiki).
