Home directory is read only?

Why my home directory /home/ikon and all sub directories are marked with read only attribute?

Response: 250 OK. Current directory is /
Command: MKD New directory
Response: 550 Can't create directory: Read-only file system
Command: MKD /New directory
Response: 550 Can't create directory: Read-only file system
