    Upgrading Queries

    Hi.

I've been using the free host (most basic free package) for a few days now, and my IPB is hitting the resource limit. It's quite a small board (probably won't max 100 members, and currently has like 30-31), but it's a fun little community (more of a sister site for a bigger forum I have on Zetaboards).

I was wondering if I upgraded to Premium, how much more resources will I get? And will I get a 128M? (That's minimum recommended for IPB). I noticed during installation I had a 98M?

And if I upgrade to Premium, can I also get prime to double premium resources? I'd rather do this than purchase a VPS package for a small IPB like this.

Thanks, and if you have any suggestions I'll be happy to hear them.

Check out the plan comparison page. Yes, you get 128MB of memory, along with increased execution time and 1-minute cron intervals. As you can see from the comparison chart, there's not much in the way of resources that can be doubled -- it's all-you-can-eat databases and email addresses, etc. (I'm sure there are "reasonable limits" involved -- if you were to start storing terabytes, the bartender will likely cut you off and call a cab.)

That said, the unmanaged S1 VPS paid annually is pretty darned cheap at $6.71/mo if the Premium plan doesn't fill your needs. If you need a managed server (let's say for argument's sake that you either hate sysadmin or don't know enough about it to keep a secure server) but don't need to install anything beyond the LAMP defaults (or I guess that's LLMP around here now), the Infinity+ plan would be a lot cheaper than a managed VPS if Premium is undersized/underpowered. I'm not suggesting you spend money you don't have to spend, just pointing out all of the options.

Awesome that's great, exactly what I needed.

Think I'm going to upgrade after Christmas and stick to shared until we really need this VPS, which hopefully won't be for a while.

Appreciate your help and quick response, essellar.
