Problem with Mail/PHP Mailer/SMTP Functions on Joomla

Can someone help me with the mail issues on Joomla powered site?

It seems that the PHP Mail function, Mailer and the SMTP Server on the Joomla configuration is not working!

What probably the problem?

Using either of the three mailer, I cannot recieve any mail from my site when i register for the new account! I've try to reinstall my Joomla, fantastico and manual installation, but unfortunately, still didn't work!

I have fresh installed joomla with these SMTP and mail settings configured:

apollyon.x10hosting.com

Mailer : SMTP Server
SMTP Auth : Yes
SMTP User : myemailaccount+mydomain.x10hosting.com
SMTP Pass: #My eMail Pass#
SMTP Host : mail.mydomain.x10hosting.com

when i try to register, i got this error:

Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to mail.apollyon.x10hosting.com:25 (Connection timed out) in /home/bub255/public_html/includes/phpmailer/class.smtp.php on line 105

it seems to be the stmp.php script has the error! but how could this be happen when i try to run joomla locally (in my pc) with my localhost (self hosted) SMTP service, and it works perfectly and i receive activation email upon registering to my site...??? any help??? i badly need this SMTP feature to work with my site! thank you in advance!

for further info:
i try to use the SMTP service with my email client program (Mozilla Thunderbird) with the same settings configured above, and it works perfectly as i send a receive mails, only didn't work with my site!

SMTP Host, set that as 'localhost', it should fix your problem.

Hi... my site already working with emails... my problem's already solved! it's just my php version must be v2... v1 disables the mail() function as well as SMTP services... BTW, thanks for the reply and to the admin for upgrading my php version! more power!
