FTP software disconnects before copying files

Ok Im having a lot of trouble uploading my files to my site. Ive tried using both Coffecupftp and Smartftp to upload these files but every time it disconnects before copying all the files. I am trying to upload phpnuke but most of the modules didnt upload. I tried uploading them individually which worked on small ones but when I try to upload the forum it never copies it all. I can connect via ftp every time and copy over small folders or individual files but when they get above 40ish files it disconnects. What can I do to get these files copied that doesnt require me copying each file individually? Thanks for any help.

Without seeing an error, its either because the server is full, or, if it disconnects properly you need passive ftp.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had passive ftp set when using coffecupftp although I couldnt find the setting in smartftp. It still disconnects in passive mode. According to cPanel the files use 10mb out of 300mb disk space. Definitily no error messages shown it just disconnects. Its really confusing me!?
