MediaWiki problems

Hi,
I am trying to use MediaWiki on my free (no ads) account, but I have had several problems. First, I could not install because I am on version 1 of php. I requested a temporary upgrade to install MediaWiki but was denied, so I had to do things in a more difficult way.

So... now I have installed MediaWiki, but am having a strange problem when trying to edit pages on the wiki. I view the page, click "Edit", get the editing form, make changes, but when I click "Save" I get an HTTP 500 error.

I checked my error log on cpanel, but the error has not been logged there, so I basically have no error message to go by...

Does anybody have any ideas?

I can unprotect the wiki for a while if anybody wants to see this for themselves
