    Looking for a work-around to run Dungeon Keeper2 on windows7 64bit

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a work-around for Dungeon Keeper2 (hey, I know it's old ... but it's a classic) that will let me run it on windows 7 64bit.

The game installs fine, but I only get a blank screen in the actual game .... any ideas?

    Shot in advance.

    Try running in compatibility mode?

@dwhite: yup...tried that one ... tried in XP with all sp's and vista ... no such luck. Tried running as admin as well ... also tried turning off themes. Still no luck.

Is it like an old MS-DOS game?

Hmm...if the game isn't too heavy maybe you could try running it under xp in a virtualbox maybe?

It ran in high graphics mode on my old pentium 133mhz beast. That was before digital was taken over by compaq. Which was before they were taken over by hp. It was an awesome machine, one of the first to support the power button that wasn't actually an on off switch. Back in the day... Who remembers "It is now safe to turn off your computer"? Or quitting windows to a dos prompt before powering off. Or never starting Windows in the first ace because it didn't exist... Macs were always a niche...

What about running it in that XP mode though? That's essentially a virtual machine, just tightly integrated with Windows 7.

Oh, sorry... I didn't see the 2. The original dungeon keeper was awesome. I can still almost hear the imps, and the man saying "You do not have enough gold".
The physics is theoretical but the fun is real.

someone already suggested running in compatability mode, apparently this did not work. virtual machine does seem like the best option so far as i can hardly see there being a patch . . . or anything to support this game in Windows 7 lol.

maybe you should be the one to make this patch!! or just set up dual boot, you can install XP specifically to run DK2 ^_^ i love that game ever so much. i install it, play it and complete it like every 2 years or so? that and Theme Hospital!! ha ha. classics!!
