    New to Website Design

I usually stick to coding but lately I've been dabbling around in design. This is what I have come up w/ so far. (Yes I know they are overly watermarked but I was to lazy to redo it)

The files are quite hugeee so links only. =]

    1. The Blog Design - http://irnoob.info/misc/blog.jpg
Hmm... I just started this tonight, no clue where I'm going w/ it yet as I tend to revise things alottt.

    2. The Random Game Design - http://irnoob.info/misc/gamerbeat.jpg
I still see a lot of spacing issues in this one....

    3. The Webhosting Site - http://irnoob.info/misc/hmc.jpg
I'm really liking the top portion of this one except for the navigation. And the bottom is no where near done.

    4. The Music Co. Site - http://irnoob.info/misc/audio.jpg
Not liking this at all except for the logo. I was trying to create a glass-ish look which I got right on the logo but nowhere else.

Well those are my opinions.... Is there anything I'm doing 'wrong' seeing as I am a beginner? Advice on designs?

    Re: New to Website Design

I hate it when noobs are good.

    Haha!

You're really good! I must admit concept wise, better than me. Keep practicing, and you have yourself a nice stable income for a while! Haha.

I'm not just saying this because your new, I'm really impressed by your work. Whether or not it's all original, eh, but we have to get inspiration from somewhere. What I'm trying to say, is I've seen it before in other things, and to be honest, all websites really look the same after a while. But I can see you having a lot of potential. Just keep going with it! Get yourself a sketch pad, I have one (or 5) filled with designs I've made, thrown away, sold, etc. You Gotta keep ahead of the game. Be on your toes. Be unique, and most importantly! Have fun with it.

If none of this makes sense, tell me, I just was hit in the head with a car door, so it's entirely possible.

    Re: New to Website Design

The only one I don't like is the "The Music Co. Site". Excellent work especially for a beginner.

They all look unfinished, mainly because there's no content so I suggest you do something that all web designers do, use a "lorem ipsum" generator (http://www.lipsum.com/).

Once again excellent work! I don't have any suggestions for the designs but I can point you in the right direction when it comes to learning more about web design. Here are some useful links:

    And for inspiration:

Hope you find it useful ;)

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!

I guess I sort of cheated saying I'm "new" I've been using Photoshop for about two years, this is just the first time I actually applied my knowledge to webdesign.

Me too xD and thanks for the links I'll be sure to check them out. I put off the content areas until the very end because I suck @ typography so it takes a while to finish it.

btw - All of these layouts (minus the clanhost one) will be released for free after they are coded. =D
